EventGhost is a system automation and control tool. It allows you to create macros that trigger different sets of actions. A macro is usually a recording of an action that you want the computer to perform automatically without user input. In this case, you don't really record the movement of your mouse or certain keyboard strokes. There is a set of built-in actions that you can add and chain together.
It is very easy to add actions. By clicking on the "add macro" button on the toolbar, you will launch the add macro wizard. There you have four action categories, which contain the actions or macros. These are very self-explanatory. There are macros for launching applications, quitting applications, changing system configurations or values, etc. There are also actions that have to do with mouse movement. Those allow you to configure mouse movement, right and left clicks, double clicks, etc.
All those macros can be triggered from within the application. EventGhost was designed to be used with IR remote controls to use HTPCs. If you are thorough enough and have the necessary hardware, you can create a set of macros that will allow you to control your computer with a remote control. It is not the most intuitive way to achieve this, but it works nonetheless.
- It is a very good tool for automating your computer
- It is not the most intuitive tool out there
